Training on Working Near Power Lines

CNESST Zero Tolerance Training

Whether it is during digging, building erection or maneuvering of unfurled equipment, minimum approach distances must be respected when work is performed near a power line. Several preventive measures must be applied to avoid electrocution or electrification of workers. In fact, electrical hazards are targeted by the CNESST’s construction action plan, and in the event of failure to comply with the rules, employers are liable to criminal prosecution (statements of offence). This training, in both theoretical and practical forms, teaches the basic notions of electricity, the safe work methods to adopt, the applicable regulations and other related subjects.

Training Objectives

  1. Prevent work accidents and incidents
  2. Know the basic principles of electricity
  3. Inform participants about the various dangers associated with working near power lines (overhead and underground) and define preventive measures to limit electrical risks
